It was a rush decision to avoid the crash. Although it may have seemed
brash at the time, it was necessary to avoid a brush with danger and
turning students into rashers amidst a pile of trash in the brush.
Seconds later the bus might have been flying like a thrush into the
crush of the massive vortex. So let's not be too rash in criticizing
this use of "rash"--it may look like a mishmash, but the harsh truth is
that it's close enough.
