"repealed"?

Off-topic: on Law and Order: Special Victims Unit: Robin Williams, playing a (perhaps mad) scientist says "the perimeters of the experiment".  Given the context, it is possible that Williams meant that certain limits or borders had been set on that particular experiemnt, but still that's an awfully arcane subtlety for a mass-market TV show.
