Well, at some point we have to be reasonable about these things.  The archives are free and MWDEU is within the means of even a modest pocketbook, but not everybody has the other resources.  I myself am not quite prepared to spend $500 for DARE or $600 for Green's, excellent though I'm sure both are.

Also, although I did spring for two copies of the Yale Book of Quotations, other physical resources are either at home or at the office, not both.

add: DARE, MWDEU, Green's Dictionary

and, for that matter, other less specialized dictionaries.  "ka-ching" is in both NOAD and AHD.
