"stupider"/ "more stupid"

CNN reports a "study" that claims spell-checkers are making Americans
"dumber."   Soledad O'Brien quickly paraphrased "dumber" as "stupider,"
then instantly corrected herself to "more stupid" as her panel of three
book-writin' media whizzes (left, right, and center) chortled.

All four agreed that in the sentence "Americans are getting stupider,"
"stupider" is "ungrammatical" and "more stupid" is "grammatically correct."
