_All Things Considered_ reports that Syrian rebels "executed
[captives] execution-style."

I.e., with a bullet to the head. Not in OED.  "Gangland-style" is a near
synonym, also absent from OED. Nor does OED really recognize the 20th C.
sense of "execution" as "the murder of a rival, esp. on orders, by a member
of a criminal gang, ."
