There's a lot of this going around. 'Tis the season, after all. I got
the we're-buds-but-you-may-not-rermember-me version from an old
friend, Thomas Rohde:

"Hi!
Listen, I know I don't usually send emails with URLs in them, but this
is such a great deal that I just have to let all of my friends know
about it, so they can get in on it too."

Yeah. Right.

It's certainly possible that this "friend's" name had been forgotten.
Except that, if I had a friend of whatever name whose address was
_no-reply@…_, I'd remember that.
