Word (phrase?) of the year? - "double down"

Some reports have accused Romney  and other Republicans of
"tripling-down" at times. I find that to be a more interesting, if
short-lived, candidate (no, I'm not talking about Romney). TPM's Josh
Marshall has been a particularly frequent user of "triple-down", but
he's not the only one. [The implication is clearly of going to the well
more than twice, but I wonder if there is some influence from
"triple-dare".]
