"Dawgs"

ESPN's pregame show for the Stanford-Washington game just showed a tweet in which the writer referred to the Washington Huskies as the "Dawgs" (sic).  Have my Georgia Bulldawgs standardized that designation and that spelling (if not that pronunciation) for all college canine teams?
