Is "now, ..." the new "well, ..."?

Think Wilson was citing the German colloquial <nu> 'well now!'. Good old
Indo-European *nu 'now' (Pok.770). One of our strongest links back to the
Hittites.
(Nil novum sub sole. Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this
is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us.)
