JD (ne' WG): <<For those of us who lived through The War, "gold-star
family" is no "euphemism.">>
There seems to be a difference, however, between <<Gold Star Mother>>
(WW1+) vs. <<Gold Star Families for Peace>> (from c.2005?), in the
respective Wikipedia articles. The former patriotic & non-political, the
latter anti-war & totally politicized.
Syncretized by POTUS in September 2012, who <<rededicated the last day in
September as "Gold Star Mother's and Family's Day.">>
