chauvinist (OED 1877)

1854 _Daily News_ (London) 14 Oct. (British Newspapers 1600-1950)  The republicans and legitimists call those chauviniste who rejoice exceedingly in the success of the French arms under a Napoleon.  The _Sie[accent over e]cle_, although an undoubted liberal journal, avows itself "chauvinist" in the latter sense.
