John Simpson, the chief editor of the OED, has an article in the Times (London) about my discovery of the earliest known occurrence of the term "the full monty." Here's a link, although most of the article is behind a paywall:

This is the actual citation I found:
full monty (OED 1985)
1979 _The Stage and Television Today_ 30 Aug. 16 (Entertainment Industry Magazine Archive) Cannon and Ball, whose six-part LWT series has been one of the victims of the ITV strike, began as a singing duo when they were welders in an engineering firm. Their comedy act started almost by accident, and here they talk to a Television Today reporter about how it happened and how they see their careers today. ... "How we turned professional starts as the conventional storybook situation", they tell you. "We went out one Friday night to a pub with the boys and after a while we got up and sang a song. There was a fellow sitting there with the full monty on, big gold rings, all that. 'I'm from London,' he said. 'You come back with me and I'll sign you up'."
