cowtailing

I thought I'd misheard a questioner on Book TV ask about somebody
"cowtailing" to somebody else, but of course I was wrong:

http://www.wordnik.com/words/cow-tail :

“This Republican is convinced that Barack Obama represents the very best
option for this country if for no other reason it is because he refuses to
cow-tail to the antics of the DNC.”

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Translate_y'all_ain't_gotta_cowtail_to_a_lot_of_this_stuff_into_more_formal_saying
:
"Y'all ain't gotta cowtail to a lot of this stuff."

See, a cow's tail follows the cow around like it's dependent or something.
