"As Chuck Schumer goes, so goes Chuck Hagel."

Of course, the meaning is twisted a bit, which is what makes this one
different. Schumer and Hagel are not aligned--the idea here was that
Hagel's nomination needed Schumer's approval to move forward. Kind of
like most GOP Presidential nominations having to be cleared by the
Heritage Foundation (often in advance). But the "As goes X, so goes Y"
(with possible permutations) was not applied in those cases...
