Then there is the old joke (which I heard circa 1960) that requires the /g/ to appear:

Papa Gnu came home and Mama Gnu said, "Junior has been misbehaving and you're going to have to spank him."
"No, I won't," said Papa Gnu.  "You're going to have to learn how to paddle your own gnu."
