On the latest episode of "The Moth" (podcast), the speaker talked about
totally defeating a master chess player, and said that as he took his
leave, his opponent "was averting my eyes":

I believe it's a production error, a blend of "avoiding my eyes" and
"averting his eyes," but in any case, the speakeris not the only one to
do this. I got a handful of ghits for "he was averting my eyes":

Probably more can be found with suitable pronoun replacements.

Long shot: Maybe the speaker also goes to the "terlet" and eats
