UK Accent Creep

The Tony Awards yesterday were very well done.  I noticed a lot of UK accents there and all over media nowadays, newscasts, commercials.  Used to be you never heard that in the old days.  Do we have media ownership asserting itself here?  Accent creep or accent attack?  How about "The American Dialect Preservation Society?"
