Antedating of "hot dog" --1884 in Indiana-CORRECTED COPY

Barry Popik caught my mistake. I put <hot dog> in quotes. Why, I don't knonw. But, there were no quotes around the words in the article.
The title of the newspaper masthead was instead _The Evansville Daily Courier_ and it was column 5, not 4.
I gotta quit drinking.
