Turkish <alci> 'plaster' sounds like <Hajji>, as in <Hajji Baba>, with
aitch-dropping. <'Ajji> replaced by more familiar <Archie> (non-rhotic),
whence A(r)chi(e) Baba.  (N.b. pun in the 1954 film, where Hajji Baba was a
barber.)
