Fun with phrases: "for all the wrong reasons"

It seems to have taken off in the 1970s. Earliest?:

1941 _Winnipeg Free Press_ (June 30) 11 [NewspArch]: But having done so it
goes en to present a dozen elaborate arguments to prove that Canada is in
the war for all the wrong reasons.
