Is _mouth hungry_ dialect?

Somehow today I was reminded of an expression my mother (born in Wisconsin)
would use to put me off begging for a snack.  She would say I was _mouth
hungry_.  I didn't find it in a once over of my dictionary collection.  Is
it dialect?  There are a couple of quotes from Nexis.  So, I guess I'm not
misremembering.
