Freshman

I just got temporary use of the OED. I see that the meaning of "ninth grader" is not included under "freshman." Wiktionary doesn't include it, either.

In school systems such as 6-3-3 where ninth graders are in junior high/middle school, they are still often referred to as "freshmen."
