Jon Stewart last night on the Daily Show, on Republicans' decision not to enact immigration reform this year after all (despite previous claims that its time has come, etc.) because of acknowledged fears that addressing the problem might "alienate their base" and make it difficult for them to gain control of the Senate:

"Yes, immigration reform might alienate some of your base," Stewart conceded, "but it might also embasen some of the aliens."
