hungry ghost and preta

(Unfortunately, a hungry ghost chewed much of BB's message into gibberish.)
FWIW:  Douglas (1873) has <hungry ghost> twice in his Southern Min
dictionary, on pages 250b & 168b: <iau1-kui2> 'a hungry ghost' (= Mandarin
e4-gui3). Chinese-English Dictionary of the Vernacular or Spoken Language
of Amoy.
