Pronunciation of Donetsk

RE: schwazification of <o> in <Donetsk>.
As far as I can figure out from internet descriptions (of <<standard>>
varieties, Russian should have a centralized /a/ (IPA no.304), Ukranian a
centralized /turned-C/ (IPA no.395).
    Too subtle for Western reporters stumbling unwarily through the
shibboleth minefield.
