And she introduces it as "shard" without the Swiss, so no assimilation involved. It does sound more dangerous than ordinary (Swiss) chard. I suppose this is another instance of hyperforeignism or hypergallicism--after all if we were in France, or Geneva, "chard" would be pronounced like "shard", mutatis mutandis.
