WB:  As a student at Berkeley, I was struck by an expression that Yakov
Malkiel used, after chatting with an audience member after a class or
conference lecture:  <<Thank you for talking to me.>> He said that his
Russian sounded to some like Tolstoy and his English like Dickens.
