anachronistic "update"

On the currently airing "World Wars" (History Channel's three episode miniseries presenting a great-man approach to the two world wars and the years between them), FDR at one point, concerned about the Japanese build-up in the Pacific during the summer of 1941, asks his advisors "Give me an update".  The first OED cites for "update" (n.) in various subsenses are 1967/1968.  I suspect this isn't an antedate.
