JL's cite is a raw googlesque translation of a Swedish source. The Swedish
word for submarine is uba*t, which translates as generic <submarine>,
including specific <Nazi submarine>.
OTOH, maybe that <Russian U-boat> really is a U-boat. According to the
Potsdam Agreement, the Soviets got four of the revolutionary Type XXI
U-boats of the Kriegsmarine, but scrounged dozens more, which evolved into
their (NATO codes) Zulu, Whiskey, & Romeo submarine classes.
