FW: euphemistic use of "exempt"

As I understand it, Peterson now has no requirement to attend otherwise
mandated team activities as stipulated in the players agreement, but gets
no credit towards seniority and pension for the games he misses. IOW, he is
now exempt from many provisions of the players agreement as long as he
stays on the Exempt Commissioner's Permission List.
A quick check of the CBA indicates that the list is mentioned, but not
defined. For example:
Section 6. Rosters: The NFL shall supply the NFLP A with an opening day and
final
roster for each Club. Rosters shall consist of the following categories of
players: Active;
Inactive; Reserve Injured; Reserve Physically Unable to Perform; Exempt
Commissioner
Permission; Non Football Illness/Injury; Practice Squad.
