It's a continuing tradition:

Arsenio Rodriguez and Perez Prado fighting over the mambo; Enrique Jorrin
and Ninon Mondejar fighting over the cha-cha-cha; Henry Ballard and Chubby
Checker fighting over the twist; "Louie, Louie" traced back with far less
rancor than usual  to "Amarren el Loco" by Jose Fajardo, etc. Even the
Beatles were successfully sued for plagiarism, though Apple lost its fight
to block Windows.
