[Ads-l] Fuse vs Fuze?

I have a friend who is a pyrotechnics display operator (July 4th municipal shows)
 and he also uses 'fuze' when referring to fireworks.

"fuze"?  the military munitions term (which i hadn't known about until a =
few minutes ago)?

i see that NOAD2 lists FUZE as an alternative spelling for the noun =
FUSE.
