This is the name of  '50'S R&B group. DJ's in The Lou, and everywhere else,
for that matter, back in the day, pronounced this name as a rhyme with "the
cavaliers." However, reading the work of one of the historians of R&B,
Marvin "Unca Marvy" Goldberg, I've discovered that the group's intention
was to name itself "The Dandelions." Unfortunately, The Man misheard this
as "the danduh-lie-uz" and simply made up a spelling off the top of his
head.

The result was confusion that continues to this day, between this group and
another group that called itself "The Danleers"
