Occasionally, over the years, I've seen this kind of thing,

"He put his books on the ground next to himself"

but it seems not to be catching on like wildfire, the way that a lot of
other new things do.

Is there any language other than English that does *not* require a
reflexive in structures of this kind, I wonder?
