Maybe it would be a whupping that was acoming?  That is, there will be a retaliation, and not merely with words ("another think"), from the speaker?

Yeah, but I must have been nearly  twenty years old before I realized it
was "think" and not "thing."  My grandmother used to say it all the time
and, truthfully, even *she* may have been saying "thing."  It sure sounded
like it.

But it *is* "think."
