Hah -- I now  see he is Columbus.  The first reference was "Blame it on that
dead, white, male, European bigot from Italy, working for Spanish
imperialists, who couldn't even manage to get his plague ships near Inja."

The "connection" with Injia is that Columbus was looking for but failed to find it.
