At last night's rally, Trump repeated a supporter's charge that because
Cruz opposes waterboarding, he's a "pussy."

CNN would not repeat the word, as being "too vulgar for morning TV."

Odds are, though, that it originated as a shortening of "pussycat."

Few outside of OED  and related circles will tolerate that suggestion, of
course.

(Have I ever mentioned that I was told by a classmate ca1971 that
"pussycat" referred only to a female cat?  For reasons obvious to some.)

"Honi soit qui mal y pense." (Translated by Mad magazine ca. 1962 as,
"Honey, why'd you swat Mel in the pants?)
