Dorothy Parker once quipped "Brevity is the soul of lingerie".
Apparently, she wrote the phrase in a caption in the fashion magazine
"Vogue", and I am trying to verify the accuracy of a citation in
October 1916.

Do you have access to the ProQuest: The Vogue Archive? If you do I
hope you will be willing to perform a quick search for the phrase and
send to me a pertinent PDF. Alternatively, you may have access to
microfilm or bound copies of "Vogue" in 1916.

I have checked Google Books and HathiTrust, but the coverage of the
early years of "Vogue" is very poor. Issues in 1916 are in the public
domain, but, unhappily, I have not been able to find scans online.

Here are the details for the citation under investigation:

Date: October 1, 1916
Periodical: Vogue
Article: Pattern Service
Quote Page 101
Publisher: Conde Nast, New York

[Begin excerpt]
>From these foundations of the autumn wardrobe, one may learn that
brevity is the soul of lingerie.
[End excerpt]

It would be helpful to see the surrounding context for the quotation.
