According to Dave "this really happened" Barry, in January 2015 Bill Belichick, coach of the about-to-be NFL champion New England Patriots, said "I've handled dozens of balls over the past week".  Did no-one eat lunch off this at the time (I mean scatologically rather than footballwise)?  Or did I just miss it all?

And I nominate this as most-easy-to-misunderstand QOTY.
