Subject: Another oldie turns up in print, finally

Back in early-'50's St. Louis, a common exclamation was:

_That chilled my shit_

"that gave me butterflies" "that made my blood run cold" "that startled the shit out of me" "that took my breath away," ''that disturbed my equilibrium," "that messed with my mind,"etc.

The expression now appears in print.

He would eat quick as hell and kiss me goodbye, saying that he had to get to the club so that he could see Brandy. That alone _chilled my shit_.

[It was lame. Little children were doing that, back during WWII.]). But Ruby was cooler. She said something that _chilled my shit_! She said, “Don't be like a a dog and scratch for it; be like a man and ask for it!"

In the space of twenty seconds he printed me a pic that just plain _chilled my shit_. “ There he is. I guarantee he looks just that way, if he's still alive.”
All say, "How hard it is that we have to die!"---a strange complaint to come from the mouths of people who have had to live.
