For some speakers of AmE, the /tr/ cluster palatalizes to [tS] as in
"chip," and for others, the /t/ assimilates to the retroflexion of the /r/
giving the [t,r,] sound.  The two are similar, but the retroflex has a
lower frequency oral cavity friction than the palatal.
