OED3 (Dec. 2015) has for "improve, v.2", sense 1. trans., a., "To increase (one's income); to spend or invest (money) so as to make a profit; esp. to lend at interest. Also in figurative context. Occas. also intr."  It also has 1.b., "refl. To increase one's income; to better oneself financially; to make a profit (from something). Also with of, on, etc., the means of profit."

Does it lack/should it have a trans. sense for improving someone else's financial situation?  I can provide a quotation if the consensus is that such a sense is lacking.
