The proverbial "straight and narrow path" collapses--and reanalyzes--the biblical (King James Version) "strait gate" and "narrow path."

You'll be glad to know that "strait" is holding its own, though, at =
least in cites of Matthew 7:14 (not to mention renderings of Gide's "La =
porte =C3=A9troite")
