[Ads-l] _to reckon_: "to like", in Britspeak

Along about 1972, I heard an English acquaintance from Ipswich say, "I
_reckon_ you." After a brief discussion, it was decided that _reckon_ in
that context was the  equivalent of American _like_ in "I like you."

Is this use of _reckon_ widespread in Britspeak or is it just a
regionalism?
