In this case, sonar is used against a submarine by a so-called
"guided-missile destroyer," such as one my brothers served on in Vietnam,
rather than by a submarine. These destroyers didn’t destroy guided
missiles, as the designation suggests. Rather, they were armed with guided
missiles, in this case with a[nti-]s[ubmarine]roc[ket]s.
