Actually, it has passed farther than that! Green’s has that meaning. Well,
it has

That’s close enough for government work.

BTW, a correction: Green’s *does* have dates, starting with 1953. But,
according to him, the colored didn’t get hip to it till a couple of years
later. And he also says that "of the walls" works for us, too. I did not
know that. But, I’ve aged out of being hip to the jive, perhaps.
