_Texas Flood_, opening line of cover by Stevie Ray Vaughn, a white Texan:

“Well, _there’s_ floodin’, down in Texas”

_Texas Flood_, opening line of original by Larry Davis, a black Texan:

“Well, _it’s_ floodin’, down in Texas”

Maybe it’s just me, but _there_ strikes me as a bizarre hypercorrection,
like “correcting”

“_It’s raining_, down in Texas”

to

“_There’s raining_, down in Texas”

Different strokes for different folks.

Youneverknow.

All say, "How hard it is that we have to die!"---a strange complaint to
come from the mouths of people who have had to live.
-Mark Twain
