A Terrytoons cartoon produced in 1934 - "Joe's Lunch Wagon" - has a flock of suspiciously Mickey Mouse-looking characters flying with sandwich-board wings and then marching around "Joe's Lunch Wagon" with "Eat at Joe's" sandwich boards:
