In a TV commercial, the speakers are just a couple of random, white guys:
A. Maybe the neighbors *need* to be _woke_!
B. It's actually "_woken_."
Maybe the neighbors *need* to be woken!"
Is that proper English? Is there any prescriptive consensus on what the
non-Present-tense principle parts of _wake, wake up, waken, awake, awaken_
et sim. ought to be? Does anyone care?

All say, "How hard it is that we have to die!"---a strange complaint to
come from the mouths of people who have had to live.
