[Ads-l] rude: noisy? frolicksome?

Wonder if any philologer ever connected <rude> with <rowdy>. The former a
preserved Latiny/Frenchy [u:] , the latter with Great English Vowel Shifted
[au]. Assuming separate borrowings at diffferent times, naturellement. And
don't just dismiss the idea with a typically pedantic sniff, you bunch of
drudges.
